Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, an IRS recognized 501(c)(3) not-for-profit public charity is the fund raising, funding and support organization for the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program. The Foundation was created at the behest of the U. S. Marine Corps and provides support in accordance with a Memorandum of Understanding with the Commander, Marine Forces Reserve, who directs the U. S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program. The Foundation has supported Toys for Tots since 1991 (from Local Toys for Tots Website for Buffalo, NY).
The mission of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program is to collect new, unwrapped toys during October, November and December each year, and distribute those toys as Christmas gifts to needy children in the community in which the campaign is conducted.
The program is not only delivering toys, but it is delivering a message a well. With each toy that is given to a needy child, the message of hope is passed along to motivate each child to grow into and become a responsible, productive, patriotic leader of our community.
The Basil Family of Dealerships has taken the opportunity to make those children who may not be as fortunate as others feel happiness this holiday season. A breathtaking 7,200 toys were donated and collected between all of the Basil Dealerships this season to be distributed to children in the Buffalo community.
In addition to giving to the children, the Basil Family has also implemented "Operation Santa Claus," an event to create more buzz, awareness, and donations for Toys for Tots.
The event was held today at Joe Basil Chevrolet in Depew, NY. Participants had the opportunity to win one of five vehicles: a 2011 Toyota Tacoma, a 2011 Ford Focus, a 2011 Chevrolet HHR, or a 2011 Chevrolet Cruze. The winner also received the option of $17,000 of Basil Bucks to use toward any pre owned vehicle at any Basil Resale Center.
